Q:1. What do you mean by sweep size of a fan and what is its significance?
A:Sweep size is the diameter of a circle traced by fan blades while rotating.
Standard sizes of ceiling fan available in market are 60 cm (600 mm), 90 cm (900 mm), 1.05 m (1050 mm), 1.2 m (1200 mm) and 1.4 m (1400 mm).
For domestic application TPWs* following standard sizes are available 30 cm (300 mm) & 40 cm (400 mm).
For exhaust and Ventilating fans for domestic application following sizes are available in market 10 cm (100 mm), 15 cm (150 mm), 20 cm (200 mm), 22.5 cm (225 mm), 25 cm (25 mm) & 30 cm (300 mm).
Q:2. What should be the minimum distance between ceiling fans and the floor?
A:The minimum distance between the ceiling fan and the floor should be 2.4 Meters (Approximately 8 Ft.).
Q:3. What should be the minimum distance between ceiling and ceiling fan?
A:The minimum distance between ceiling or a projecting beam & ceiling fan blades should be 0.3 Meters (Approximately 1 feet).
Q:4. What should be the minimum distance between ceiling fan and nearest wall?
A:The horizontal distance between the ceiling fan blade tip & the nearest wall should be 0.5times of the sweep size of the fan.
Q:5. Does a fan consume same power at all speed-positions?
A:It depends on the type of the regulator used, for resistive type regulators total power consumed will be same for all speeds. For capacitive or SCR type regulators power consumption will be less in lower speeds.
Q:6. What are the specific benefits of TPW fans over the ceiling fans?
A:All Table, Pedestal & Wall (TPW) fans give high air velocity as compared to ceiling fans, which give faster relief in summer. Portability of Table & Pedestal fan is another advantage it has over ceiling fans. They cover a larger area due to their oscillating mechanism and have an advantage over personalized fans in a non-oscillating mode.
Q:7. Does star rated fans offer more air delivery?
A:Not necessarily, but the service value of the fan will be higher; helps to reduce your electricity bills.
Q:8. In case of air delivery is low, whether increasing of angle with hands helps to improve the air delivery?
A:Generally fan angles are set to deliver optimum performance. Any change in the angle may adversely affect the performance and life of the fan. More over any variation in the angle may affect the total balancing of the fan
